Dolan Geiman
Art With A Southern Accent

Robert found this wonderful new artist last year named Dolan Geiman. We initially got to know Dolan and his wife Ali via Facebook and Twitter--it was a totally social media relationship! We started selling his art in the gallery and online, but only recently did we actually get to meet them both at the New York International Gift Fair in New York City where they made their big debut. Here is a picture of their booth (This is from their blog. Rest assured, there were a lot of buyers there, it was not empty!):

Dolan Geiman is a nationally recognized mixed media artist creating original paintings, collages, constructions, and limited-edition reproductions. One of the best aspects about Dolan's work is that it is produced from salvaged wood, found objects, and other recycled materials. His eco-friendly artwork emerges from a folk art tradition infused with a contemporary, urban style. Motifs such as birds, woodland creatures, music, and Americana are popular and recurring themes, creating an artwork that introduces a modern aesthetic while remaining true to its rustic roots.

Originally from Virginia's Shenandoah Valley, Geiman currently lives and works in Chicago along with wife and business partner Ali Marie Geiman. When Robert and I finally met them at the NYIGF, we were struck not only by the amazing artwork but by the fact that are both tall people--when you have a completely online relationship with someone do you really think about how tall they are? But seriously, they were as delightful in person as they had been through the world of tweets and posts. It was a great joy to finally meet them and get to see more of Dolan's artwork up close and personal.

I fell in love with Dolan's 3-D constructions which are created with all kinds of found materials and had the subject matter of guitars, roosters, deer heads and horses. We ordered many pieces for the shop and gallery, which will soon be delivered. I have posted a few images here that are similar to what we purchased at the fair. Dolan creates works in series that have similar themes, colors and materials, so each piece has slight variations.

Dolan creates a wide range of  "panel paintings" which cover many subjects and themes. Here they almost appear as if they are old vinyl records stacked high in old crates. Love it!
All of these panel paintings below are only $45.-$55., which is wonderfully affordable. Take a peek at these pieces and let us know what you think. The artwork will be posted on our website and we will also let everyone know when it arrives in the gallery, which should be soon!
